Welcome! I’m Jim Backus, and I’m proud to call the Peace Country home. My family’s roots here run deep—my grandfather brought us to this region in 1930, drawn by the promise of owning land and building a better future. That same sense of opportunity has kept our family here ever since. After earning my Marketing diploma from N.A.I.T. in Edmonton, I began my career in the farm machinery business, selling equipment and helping farmers grow their operations. For 33 years, I worked with John Deere dealerships, gaining experience in sales, management, and eventually ownership. In 2012, I opened a Kubota dealership in Fairview, followed by Grande Prairie Kubota in Sexsmith in 2014. Today, our dealership remains a proud family business, run by my two sons.
Having spent decades helping people invest in their livelihoods, transitioning into real estate felt like a natural next step. I’ve earned both my residential and agricultural real estate licenses, allowing me to assist clients whether they’re moving from urban to rural living or vice versa. My goal is to provide the same straightforward, honest service that I’ve become known for in the Peace Country.
Over the years, I’ve built lasting relationships across the region and developed a deep understanding of what makes our communities special. Whether you’re buying your first home, selling a family farm, or looking for your next investment, I’m here to help you navigate the process with confidence.
When I’m not working, you’ll find me enjoying life in Fairview, where my wife Roxie and I have lived for most of our 40 years together. We’re proud parents to two sons and grandparents to five wonderful grandkids.
I’m passionate about helping families and individuals find their place in this incredible region. If you’re ready to make your next move, let’s work together to make it happen.
